The Pôsterie
Brand Identity
Role: Masters Student in Graphic Design , New England School of Art and Design at Suffolk University
Need: For my Master’s Thesis, my research explored our relationship to past and future generations through tangible forms of documentation such as letters, postcards, journals, and photo albums. It revealed how this connection is diminished as we shift from tactile to digital storytelling methods. Unlike previous generations, we predominantly rely on digital mediums like text, email, and social media for communication and documentation. This led me to ponder: “how can we recover, strengthen, and facilitate the sense of interpersonal connection to loved ones that was traditionally nurtured through the personal touch of handwritten correspondence?”
Results: To address this challenge, I designed a nostalgic visual identity for a letter-writing café and digital app that bridges the gap between the dying art of letter writing with the digital world. The app seamlessly transforms handwritten letters into digital format for easy storage and organization. Through identity design, an ad campaign, signature patterns, a digital app, and environmental graphics for the café, The Pôsterie brand took shape.
Logo development mockups
The final design was created as a stamp to achieve a more authentic look and feel. However, it looked too crisp, so I experimented with stamping on different types of paper.
